Tom Cruise adds a new word to the business vocabulary

Tom Cruise has inadvertently added a new word to the business vocabulary.
When you blindly spend tons of money in a Quixotic obsession on a product, service, or project that the Earth's population has absolutely no use for -- and nobody wants to tell you "no" -- it will be called a "Digger."

It has to be the kind of misfire that poses the kinds of questions NY Times film critic Manohla Dargis asked about the film "Digger":
"Why did Tom Cruise make this? Why does he look like that? Did anyone involved have the guts to tell him that this was a bad idea? And what on earth was the director, Alejandro G. Iñárritu, thinking?"
EXAMPLES:
* Cracker Barrel's three-year $700 million rebrand and remodel.
* Meta's Reality Labs division logging over $70 billion in cumulative losses since late 2020 trying to convince people about the Metaverse.
* Tesla Cybertruck and the Ford F-150 Lightning.
From here on, when things like this happen, they should be called "Diggers."
As in "The Metaverse was Mark Zuckerberg's 'Digger.'"
We can thank Tom Cruise for replacing the term "Quibi" with "Digger."
